Cut-off walls consisting of self-hardening cement-bentonite are used to contain leachate and/or gases at landfill sites and former industrial sites. Geomembranes are frequently incorporated into the slurry to act as the main element of the barrier. This Digest discusses materials and specification of cement bentonite mixes and geomembranes in contaminated land.
