This guide explains how facilities expertise can be more fully integrated into the design process. It is aimed both at facilities managers, to encourage them to take a more active part in projects, and at members of the design professions. The text is based on those issues that BIFM members raised as being of particular concern during a series of workshops held within the BIFM regions. It discusses the technical issues that prevent buildings from being operated optimally by promoting the facilities manager's needs and includes simple checklists and problem indicators highlighting the questions that should be asked. It provides techniques that can be used to aid input in the design process. It is a guide to 'making things better' where it is commonly felt that they go wrong. 48 pages
