This paper outlines the concept of Whole Life Value (WLV) and describes the WLV Framework - a web-based tool that provides an integrated framework for the variety of design tools that deal with the issue of sustainability in the built environment. The framework enables designers and their clients to take account of the most significant aspects of sustainability and to predict the whole life value (WLV) of their projects. The WLV search engine is on the website: http//www.wlv.org.uk This searches for resources such as books, guidance notes, information papers, standard procedures and tools, websites, databases, etc. in order to find information relevant to a particular stage in a building's life-cycle (e.g. Construction, Operation, Demolition) or to a particular topic such as Air quality or Transport. A searcher can also focus on the social aspects of construction projects such as employment and pollution that can affect people directly or indirectly. 4 pages.
