Book Description

This ’Technical Booklet’ gives guidance, in support of the Building Regulations for Northern Ireland, for reducing the concentration of radon in new dwellings and extensions to existing buildings, and hence reducing the risk to occupants of exposure to radon. It focuses on the constructional features that affect this risk, and provides practical details on methods of protecting new dwellings and new extensions to existing buildings. Guidance is provided for both solid and suspended floors. Research on methods of dealing with suspended timber floors is continuing, so current best practice advice is given for those. The guidance may also be of use to designers of new structures where the form of construction and compartmentation is similar to that of housing. 26 pages.
